Casa de las Conchas.-Approximate date.-the photograph belongs to a numbered series dedicated to the most emblematic buildings and monuments of Salamanca.-on the back of the original photo there are two stamps: Foto.Gombau and Vda. By Venancio Gombau.-The House of the Shells of Salamanca It is a Gothic style building with Plateresque elements. Its construction began in 1493. Inside, the courtyard with Mixtilinear Arches, the staircase and the Coffered Ceiling stand out. Shells from Santiago decorate the façade of the building and the Fleurs de lis of the Maldonado family on the Shield. Throughout history it has undergone important modifications and restorations. Currently it is a library for the enjoyment of all citizens.
