Spain. Journey of the Spanish royal family to the Cantabrian coast. King Alfonso XII (1857-1885), Queen Maria Cristina (1858-1929) and the Infantas Paz and Eulalia. On September 14, 1881, the queen and the infantas embarked from Comillas to Suances beach. As there was a distance of approximately two kilometres between the beach and the town of Suances, two ox carts were prepared, as there were no other types of vehicles in the area, for the transportation of the queen, the infantas and servants.
