Errol Hinds and Julius Mapata, Livingstone to Broken Hill, Northern Rhodesia, 1925 (1927). A print from Cape to Cairo, by Stella Court Treatt, George G Harrap & Company Ltd, 1927. The book was an account of the first successful journey by motor vehicle from Cape Town to Cairo, accomplished by Stella Court Treatt and her husband, Major Chaplin Court Treatt, in 1924-1926. Errol Hinds (1908-1980), Stella's younger brother, and Julius Mapata were also members of the expedition. Mapata, a Malawi chief, had been Chaplin's servant in South Africa since 1916. He spoke 32 native dialects as well as English.
