Two knights in armor for high-barde and Italian jousts. The knight on the left is from a joust with high barde (high saddle armor) 223. He wears a suit of armor, yellow hatched tunic with black skirt and breast armor, massive white plumes on his helm. His horse caparison blazon is yellow with black-hatched borders and two naked women with pink ribbons and a baby. The knight on the right is from an Italian joust 222. He wears a pale green tunic and helmet feathers, his horse a green caparison decorated with three grenades. Both carry three-pronged coronet lances. Copied from the Freydal of Maximilian I and the Turnierbuch of Jeremias Schemel, 16th century. Handcolored copperplate engraving from Robert von Spalart's Historical Picture of the Costumes of the Principal People of Antiquity and Middle Ages, Vienna, 1802.
