An Elasmotherium grazing.

An Elasmotherium grazes on the ancient steppe of what is today Southern Russia. Characterized by a single massive horn (up to 6 feet long), Elasmotherium was a giant herbivorous mammal active in Eurasia about 3 million years ago. Related to modern rhinos, Elasmotherium was more massive, standing about 8 feet tall at the shoulder and up to 26 feet long and weighing over 3 tons. . . Elasmotherium should not be confused with the smaller and extinct woolly rhinoceros which emerged about 2 million years after the appearance of the first Elasmotherium.
