This drawing shows a balloon flight made by Charles Green, one England's great early aeronauts. His most famous flight had taken place six years earlier, on November 7, 1836, and covered a record-breaking distance from London to Nassau in Germany. Here, the "Albion," piloted by Green has lifted off from Vauxhall Gardens south of the Thames. Captain Currie accompanied Green on this flight, which took them west into Dorest.
