Title: Temple of Bacchus, Baalbek, Lebanon
Caption: Temple of Bacchus, Baalbek, Lebanon. In Roman times, Baalbek, in Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, was known as Heliopolis, the City of the Sun. It is the site of some of the finest Roman temples to be found, including this one dedicated to Bacchus, the god of wine. UNESCO declared the ruins of Heliopolis a World Heritage Site in 1984.
