Japanese okimono representing legendary Chinese general Kanyu. Made from Ivory. Kanyu lived between 160-219 AD and was a general during the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history. Stories of Kanyu (AKA Gaun Yu) are told in the 14th century novel 'Romance of the Three Kingdoms'. Was instrumental in helping Liu Bei to become the first emperor of the Kingdom of Shu. The artefact is highly detailed, and shows the artist had a great degree of skill.
