FARRUKH BEG. 'The Great Emperor Akbar Enters His City in State', 1572, (1590-1595), (c1930). The Mughal emperor Akbar's triumphant entry into the fort of Surat in western India, after taking the city in 1572. Akbar (ruled 1556-1605) is riding a black horse, followed by a musician, bodyguards, camels and an elephant.
