Archer Martin, British biochemist

Editorial use only . Archer John Porter Martin (1910-2002), British biochemist. Martin's initial work was on vitamins, particularly the isolation of vitamin E and vitamin deficiencies. Whilst looking into the problem of separating complex mixtures of amino acids, Martin and Richard Synge developed partition chromatography. They shared the 1952 Nobel Prize for Chemistry for this invention.
