Orig. bildtext... ANOTHER GENIUS IN THE FAMILY? The celebrated violinist, Yehudi Menuhin is now in London for recitals of Beethoven's sonatas. In fact he's been in London some time, but the public meet him only at the concerts. He does not seek publicity in other ways. Thirty eight year-old Menuhin was born in New York. His parents are of Russian origin who went to America from Palestine. He was given his first violin at the age of four. When he was seven he startled an audience who heard him play a Mendelssohn concerto with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra, at ten he played at Carnegie Hall. His first appearance in England was at the famous Queen's Hall in 1929. His home is the family ranch in California but with him in London are his wife and two boys, Gerald, aged six, and Jeremy, three. Asked recently what it was like to be the wife of a genius, Mrs. Menuhin, (the English-born former ballerina, Diana Gould) said If its salvery to be a genius, its worse salvery to be his wife!
