Henry A Wallace, American politician, 1930s. Henry Agard Wallace (1888-1965) served as Secretary of Agriculture from 1933-1940 in President Franklin D Roosevelt's administration. From 1941 he was Roosevelt's Vice-President and served as Secretary of Commerce under President Harry S Truman from 1945-1946. In 1948 he ran unsuccessfully for President as the candidate of the Progressive Party.
