La Vie Parisienne (Parisian Life), by Jacques Offenbach (1819-1880), is a five-act opera about cosmopolitan life in Paris in the 1860s. Jacques Offenbach was a German-born, French composer and cellist, and one of the originators of the operetta form, a precursor of the modern musical comedy.
