The Leviathan of Parsonstown, the 72 inch telescope built by William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, in 1845. It was located at Birr Castle, Parsonstown, County Offaly, Ireland and was the largest telescope built in the 19th century. Parsonstown is now known as Birr. The telescope can still be seen at Irelands Historic Science Centre at Birr Castle. From The Universe or, The Infinitely Great and the Infinitely Little, published 1882.
