Caption: Kosciuszko walked into the synagogue in Krakow and asked the Jews to help with the uprising. He promised that the Jews would be treated equally in Poland after the revolution. Berek Joselewicz called Kosciuszko a messenger from God and started a Jewish cavalry. Andrzej Tadeusz Ko?ciuszko 1746 - 1817) was a Polish-Lithuanian military leader during the Ko?ciuszko Uprising. He is a national hero in Poland. Before commanding the 1794 Uprising, he had fought in the American Revolutionary War as a colonel in the Continental Army.
