Lieutenant-General Sir George Pollock, G.C.B. (1786-1872), 1856. First Afghan War hero. Relieved Sale at Jalalabad and captured Kabul. A three-quarter length portrait, bareheaded, the body turned slightly towards the left, right arm raised. He wears a dark blue uniform with gilt buttons and belt; on his breast are the Star of the Bath, the India general service medal with four clasps, and the Kabul medal.
