Hypnosis Birth for Shinwell's Grandson Mrs. Peggy Shinwell, wife of Mr. Ernest Shinwell, son of the Defence Minister, gave birth to a boy under medical hypnotism at the West Dulwich Clinic early today. The boy weighted eight pounds. Fewer than ten hours after baby was born, I found 30-year-old Mrs. Shinwell sitting ***** in bed and receiving visitor. "I feel wonderful and walked back from the labour ward to my room as soon as my son was born," she told me. "I was conscious of what was happening, but did not feel any pain. I can remember everything perfectly. "As I had my pre-natal examinations under hypnotism I have felt no pain" at any stage at all." Proudly holding her baby, Mrs. Shinwell said the most important aspect of hypnotic birth was that the mother felt relatively fresh and relaxed after the baby was born and was not so exhausted.
