Lady Jane Grey (1537-1554) The Nine Days Queen. A granddaughter of Henry VII, after the death of her Protestant cousin Edward VI, her ambitious father-in-law the Duke of Northumberland proclaimed her queen. Henry VIII's elder daughter's claim was stronger and she was crowned Mary I. Jane was beheaded 12 February 1554. Portrait c1545.
