Caption: Strip of bobbin lace with hanging flower pot on garland along the top edge, Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Malines lace. The repeating pattern consists of an inverted flower pot hanging from a continuous garland along the upper edge. Along the lower edge, between the downward hanging flower branches, is alternating a row of oval cartouches formed by leaves and flowers and an inverted flowerpot with a symmetrical bouquet. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground. The motifs are made in linen stitching and provided with thicker and shiny contour threads. Different decorative grounds are used in the flower pots and in the cartouches. The top and bottom are finished straight, with the bottom having picots., anonymous, Southern Netherlands, c. 1760 - c. 1780, linen (material), bobbin lace, Mechlin (lace), length 277 cm × width 4.8 cm × 18.5 cm
