'Sir R. Fanshaw', (1608-1666), 1830. Sir Richard Fanshawe, 1st Baronet (1608-1666) English poet, translator, linguist, diplomat and politician, educated at Jesus College, Cambridge. Sat in the House of Commons from 1661 to 1666 and supported the Royalists During the English Civil War and served King Charles II.  From "Biographical Illustrations", by Alfred Howard.
