Japan: Gaishi Nagaoka (1858-1933). Japanese air force commander and aviation pioneer, whose moustache measured 51 cm (20 inches) from tip to tip, c. 1915

Nagaoka Gaishi was an army officer in Meiji and Taisho eras. He went to the front in the Sino-Japanese War but remained in the mainland of Japan as Vice Chief of the General Staff during the Russo-Japanese War. He was elected a member of the House of Representatives in 1924.
