South Side Ball Park, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1915. Artist: Unknown

South Side Ball Park, Chicago, Illinois, USA, 1915. Postcard showing a view of the old home of the Chicago White Sox baseball team, looking out over the field from inside the stands. The team is on the field and thousands of spectators fill the stands. South Side Park was the home stadium of the White Sox from 1900 until 1910, when the team moved to its current home, Comiskey Park. Renamed Schorling Park, South Side Park continued to be used by the Chicago American Giants, a team playing in the Negro League (baseball, like many other aspects of American life, was still segregated at the time) from 1911 until 1940, when the wooden structure was destroyed by a fire.
