On Broadway, she was noted for her work in the classic plays of Ibsen, Chekhov and Turgenev. She later moved on to film, where she served many production roles, both writing and directing films under pseudonyms. Her film Salome is regarded as a cultural landmark. Herbert Brenon (January 13, 1880 - June 21, 1958) was an Irish film director, actor and screenwriter during the era of silent movies through the 1930s.
