These photographs are from a recently discovered series of color films taken between 1938 and 1941 at Berchtesgaden, Hitler's eagle's nest retreat in the Bavarian alps, and other holiday resorts in Austria by Heinrich Hoffman, Hitler's private photographer. Eva Braun, the girl who is reported to have married Hitler during the last days of the siege of Berlin and who later died with him, according to accepted reports, makes many appearances in the series. She is shown here (top left) on the shore of the Wolfgangsee in Austria, at lower left, she exercises on the beach, top right, Eva (standing) with unidentified friends in Austria.
