HMAS Sydney marks the 10,000th Landing of an Aircraft on her Deck -- To celebrate this event, which occurred in the pacific ocean as the carrier was returning from the United Kingdom with the Australian and New Zealand Coronation Contingents, members of the ship's company in white uniform formed the figure "10,000" on the deck. They were supported by the two contingent ahead and astern. This photograph was taken from as anti-submarine Firefly aircraft of 817 squadron which is embarked in the Sydney. A Large number of landing were made while the ship was serving with United Nations Forces in Korea. She will join those forces again in shortly following her arrival back in Sydney. July 18, 1953.
