Deep fermentation tanks for production of streptomycin as used by Boots Pure Drug Company at Nottingham.Streptomycin is absorbed by charcoal which is then collected by filter press shown on the right. It is than removed from the charcoal by stirring in a tank containing acidified methyl alcohol. February 11, 1948.
