Congress building (parliament) in Brasília the federal capital of Brazil; founded on April 21, 1960, to serve as the new national capital. Brasília was planned and developed by Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer in 1956 in order to move the capital from Rio de Janeiro to a more central location.
