Fluconazole, Diflucan, Antifungal Medication

Fluconazole (C13 H12 F2 N6 O) is an antifungal medication used in the form of 50 mg, 150 mg, or 200 mg pills for many fungal infections including those caused by Candida yeasts. It differs from earlier azole antifungals by the presence of a triazole ring instead of an imidazole ring in its molecule. While imidazole antifungals are mainly used topically, fluconazole is preferred when systemic treatment is required because it is safer and is absorbed predictably when administered orally.
