1931. TORRE DEL GALLO.-APPROXIMATE DATE.-The cathedral of Salamanca is topped with the Torre del Gallo, in the image, which internally has a dome that rests on a double-height drum with columns that serve as a starting point for the nerves that reinforce the galloned dome. It is a Gothic tower decorated with oriental elements of the Byzantine tradition, these are attributed to Mozarabs who came from the south who were connoisseurs of oriental architecture. The name Torre del Gallo is due to the weathervane in the shape of a rooster, which symbolizes the vigilance of the soul and the arrival of Christ.
