DANIEL JOHN POUND. Aimable Jean Jacques Pelissier, duke of Malakoff, marshal of France, 19th century. Pelissier (1794-1864) was made duke of Malakoff after his success in the storming of the Tower of Malakoff during the Crimean War in 1855. This event ended the Siege of Sebastopol, and was instrumental in the victory of the British and French against Russia.
