Japan-Born Father Proud Of Sons Who Died For U.S. - Kiichi Saito (left), who was born in Japan and came to the United States as a young man, gazes with sorrowful pride at a portrait of three of his sons in their U.S. Army uniforms. Two of the boys, Calvin (center in portrait) and George (right in portrait), have been killed fighting against the Germans in Italy and France, respectively. The third son, Shozo, like his brothers volunteered for service. Three months before he was killed, George, writing to his father to console him on Calvin's death, said: "This is no time to be preach to you.... but in spite of Cal's supreme sacrifice, don't let anyone tell you he was foolish or made a mistake to volunteer.
