MEDALIST: VICTOR PETER. Pierre-Paul David d'Angers

Pierre-Paul David d'Angers. Artist: Medalist: Victor Peter (French, Paris 1840-1918 Paris). Culture: French, Paris. Dimensions: Overall (confirmed): 6 1/2 × 6 1/2 in. (16.5 × 16.5 cm). Date: 1881.
This medal is a touching bow to a progenitor of the splendidly gifted sculptor and medalist Victor Peter, as it represents the grandson of the great medalist Pierre-Jean David d'Angers. An example was shown in the Salon of 1881 and the present one looks as fine as that in the Musée d'Orsay.
