Alexander McKenzie (1851-1922), Republican National Committeeman of North Dakota in the late 1800s. An influential figure in the Dakota Territory in its early days, McKenzie ran a powerful political organization in the state of North Dakota for decades. McKenzie was jailed in 1900 for contempt of court in a scandal involving Alaskan gold mining. He was pardoned by President William McKinley in May, 1901. Portrait by D.F. Barry, ca. 1880s.
