Mrs Montagu's House, Portman Square, London, 19th century (1907). Portman Square was originally laid out in the 1760s by Henry William Portman. Several prominent aristocrats had residences on the square, which contained house designed by Robert Adam and James 'Athenian' Stuart. Montagu House was built by Stuart between 1777 and 1781. It was destroyed by a German incendiary bomb during World War II.
