MYCOPLASMA HOMINIS

Mycoplasmas are miniscule bacteria lacking a cell wall. Found in nature, in humans, and in animals, mycoplasmas are the smallest known organisms capable of growth and reproduction outside living host cells. Mycoplasma hominis causes gyneco-obstetric problems (urethritis, salpingitis, pregnancy complications). Tetracyclines (antibiotics) are effective, but should be used to treat partners since mycoplasmas are sexually transmissible. SEM 4000x.
