Coronal (Frontal) View of the Male Pelvis

This colour enhanced coronal (frontal) view of the male pelvis was obtained using Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The bony pelvis and lower lumbar vertebrae (spine) are shown in yellow. The oval blue structure in the middle of the image is the urinary bladder. The bright red structure in the center of the image which partially covers the urinary bladder (blue) is a markedly enlarged prostate gland. The elongated orange structure is the penis. The focal rounded structures within the penis represent the corpora cavernosa of the penis. The green olive shaped structures on either side of the prostate gland (red) are the spermatic cord structures. The muscles of the pelvis and upper thighs are deep red.
