English Gothic style gate with crenellations and medallions built by King Henry VIII in 1531, demolished in the mid-18th century. Walls finished with chequerboard pattern of flint and stone, decorative carved panels, royal coat of arms, gryphons holding shields, portcullis, fleur-de-lys and Tudor roses. A carriage approaching the arched entrance, several figures in the foreground. Copperplate engraving by an unknown artist published in London, circa 1720.
