Italy, Florence, Arno River, the Old Bridge (Ponte Vecchio)

The Ponte Vecchio is the oldest bridge in Florence, and the only one that survived the Second World War. It stands on the site of at least three precedent bridges, the first of which goes back to Roman times. The current bridge was built in 1345 by Neri di Fioravante. It is an elegant structure with three arches, characterized by the small housed that line both sides of the bridge.
