WWI, Ambulance Company First Aid, 1918

The Ambulance Company (27th Infantry Division was a unit of the Army National Guard) administering first aid at an advance dressing station in France during World War I, 1918. A field hospital is a large mobile medical unit, or mini hospital, that temporarily takes care of casualties on-site before they can be safely transported to more permanent hospital facilities. A field hospital is larger than a temporary aid station but smaller than a permanent military hospital.
