Colour enhanced electron micrograph of Golgi apparatus at 125,000x. This cell structure (similar to endoplasmic reticulum) processes lipids and proteins synthesized in the endoplasmic reticulum and stores and packs materials to be exported from the cell. It is often called the shipping department of the cell with vesicles that pinch off, moving to the cell membrane to release material from the cell.
