Jewel Enope Squid

The Jewel Enope Squid, Pyroteuthis margaritifera, (Pyroteuthidae) is found in tropical and subtropical waters around the world. The arrangement of the photophores in the tentacles helps to identify this species. This individual was captured in a Tucker Trawl between the surface and 500 meters depth at night, in the Gulf of Mexico, 2011.
