Spanish Civil War (1936-1939). Siege of the Toledo Alcazar (21 July to 28 September 1936). The military units based in Toledo joined the uprising of 18 July 1936, concentrating in the Alcazar. Colonel Jose Moscardo Ituarte, Military Commander of the city, took command of them, resisting a seventy-day siege. Office used by Colonel Moscardo during the siege, from which he held the last telephone conversation with his son Luis on 23 July, in which the chief of the Militia told him that his son was being held hostage and gave him ten minutes to surrender. Moscardo did not surrender. Luis was shot on 23 August along with other prisoners from the prison. Army Museum. Toledo, Spain.
