Saiho-ji, Rinzai Zen, Buddhist temple, Kyoto, Japan. The temple, which is famed for its moss garden, is commonly referred to as "Koke-dera" was, primarily constructed to honor Amitabha. In 1994, Saiho-ji was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main hall of the temple, known as Sairai-do was reconstructed in 1969. The paintings on the sliding doors are the work of Insho Domoto.
