Strip of bobbin lace with fuchsias above skipping waves, Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace, Valenciennes lace. The repeating pattern consists of two fuchsia flowers that hang down on the center line of the strip on a slightly curved stem. The flowers almost touch the wave valley, between the high breaking waves along the bottom of the strip. The waves are made of feathered leaves and acanthus leaves placed against each other, in the form of c and s volutes. Between the fuchsia branches a bouquet with rosette flowers originates from a c-volute, crowned by an open-worked s-volute of leaves and twigs. The motifs are connected by a mesh ground, a diamond-shaped Valenciennes ground. The full work is largely made in linen stroke with cut-outs and openwork edges and partly in net stroke. Snowflakes and loose snowflakes were used as ornamental ground. The top of the strip is finished with a separately clotted strap. The scallops along the bottom are finished with picots., anonymous, Belgium, c. 1890, cotton (textile), Valenciennes lace, l 75 cm × w 10.5 cm ×, 16.3 cm.
