Iodine test for starch. Iodine test is used to determine presence of starch. Elemental iodine reacts with starch and produces purple-black colour. Typically used is Lugol's solution (Lugol's iodine) which is an aqueous solution of iodine and potassium iodide. Here Lugol's solution is used on a piece of wheat bread.
