Portugal: Ramalho Ortigao (1836 - 1915), Portuguese writer, journalist, literary critic and translator, Cordoaria Garden, Praca de Parada Leitao, Porto. Jose Duarte Ramalho Ortigao was a supporter of Portuguese literary romanticism. He co-wrote 'The Mystery of the Sintra Road', often cited as the first Portuguese detective novel.
