North American F-100A Super Sabre. Single-engine jet fighter-bomber produced by the U.S. company North American Aviation (NAA). It was the first of a series of supersonic fighter aircraft called Century Series. The F-100A model began production in May 1953, with a total of 203 aircraft made. It was designed as a day fighter with internal 20 mm cannons and missiles. The 479 Fighter Wing at George AFB (California) received its first F-100A on 27 September 1953, although it was not operational until September 1954.
