Title: Dinosaur Neck Structure
Caption: The structure of a suspension bridge is similar to the large sauropod dinosaur with the exception that the flexible design of the backbone allows mobility. The neck operates like a crane jib covered with cables (ribs) to which neck muscles connected by elastic ligaments are attached. The spines on the vertebrae had a groove down the middle to anchor the massive tendon running from neck to tail creating an economical arrangement of support. This allowed the dinosaur to stand at rest with both the neck and tail suspended with very little effort.
