Madrid, 1855. The Cibeles fountain still appears in its original location, next to Paseo de Recoletos. The water carriers load their carts with water that they would then distribute throughout the city. More than fifty were supplied at the fountain of the goddess. Neither the Bank of Spain nor the Army headquarters are yet there.
