Anna Katharine GREEN (11 November 1846-11 April 1935), American writer, one of the first writers of detective novels in America. Remembered as the 'mother' of the yellow / police genre, she introduced an innovative narrative style focused on the investigation, and the use of a serial character, Inspector Ebenezer Gryce. Despite the sensitivity to social issues related to the world of women, and the personal emancipation of writer outside the box, never supported the nascent feminist movement, opposing women's suffrage.
